In total, the One Ring was touched by eight beings, five of which were Hobbits, and the time it was held by each ranges from over 1800 years to as little as a few seconds.
There are only five wizards in Middle-earth. They are: Gandalf, Saruman, Radagast, and the Blue Wizards.
Other names for Rohan include: The Mark, The Riddermark, Rochand and Rochann.
Before the kingdom of Rohan existed it was known as Calenardhon, a province of Gondor. The region was gifted to ancestors of the Rohirrim after they rode to Gondor's aid and turned the tide of a battle that would have otherwise meant Gondor's defeat.
The name 'Hobbit' is believed to be derived from the Rohirric language: Holbytlan (hole builders).

Amon Hen, the Hill of Seeing, was one of two peaks where watchtowers were built overlooking the River Anduin on the Northern borders of Gondor. Many years later, it would also be remembered as the location where the breaking of the Fellowship took place.
Also known as The Pillars of the Kings, the Argonath are monuments of stone constructed in the likenesses of the brothers Isildur and Anárion, founders of the realm of Gondor. The two statues are described as each wearing a crown and carrying an axe in their right hands, a gesture of defiance to the enemies of Gondor and to mark its Northern border.
Named for the Sindarin translation of the Ent Treebeard, "fang" meaning beard, and "orn" meaning tree, Fangorn Forest is also referred to as the Entwood by the Rohirrim people. At one time in history, Fangorn Forest spanned all of Eriador and what is now known as Rohan, before much of it was destroyed in the war between the Númenóreans and Sauron. Today, it is believed to be a haunted forest full of secrets and dark things. Only the Ents and the Huorns are known to reside there.
Théoden
Éomer
King Théoden of Rohan was once a robust and vibrant man, but he now sits quietly in his hall at Edoras with only his advisor and the remnants of his household. Many of his lords have begun to lose faith in his ability to rule as the King of Rohan must.
Now Third-marshal of the Riddermark, Éomer is the nephew of King Théoden. The young marshal is unwavering in his defense of Rohan, openly disobeying Théoden's edict and hunting Orcs in the Eastemnet. He is brother to Éowyn, the king's niece, who cares for the weakened man in Edoras.
Harding
The Aldor of the North-march, Harding is a grim but resilient man who sees to the defense of the Wold. A strong, battle-scarred veteran, Harding is disgusted by Théoden's decline and openly distrustful of the king's advisor.
Horn
Son of Reeve Ingbert, Horn is as gifted a poet as he is a warrior, having studied under the minstrel Gléowine while staying at Edoras. An ill-received poem about the king and his advisor, Grima Wormtongue, has seen Horn exiled to the outpost of Stangard.
Ingbert
The former captain of Théoden's personal guard, Reeve Ingbert stands almost seven feet tall. Even now, Ingbert remains fiercely loyal to his king, though he is troubled by the recent events and feels that something must be done, even if the king will not do it.
Fastred
At twenty-four years of age, Reeve Fastred is a spirited leader and fierce warrior, despite his youth. Having come to power when his father fell to an Orkish arrow, Fastred believes that fighting the enemies of Rohan is noblest of all pursuits and dying in combat is the most honorable end. Stubborn as he is brave, the young Reeve has refused to follow Éomer's orders to evacuate the defenseless from his lands.
Althelward
Reeve of Cliving, Althelward has been lost to despair ever since the death of his wife, and is now a shadow of his former self. He seeks to marry Thane Mildrith of Elthengels in order to produce a male heir and continue his line.
