The drums of war march across eastern Rohan, and heroes are needed more than ever. As you advance to level 85, you must brave many challenges: uncover the secrets of crafted Rohirric armour and weaponry; master higher forms of combat with new skills; and even restore the once-tranquil village of Hytbold to its former glory.

If the Horse-lords are to survive this war to battle in the greater one yet to come, their people need your aid now.

The name of Hytbold is derived from Old English hýht ("hope") and bold ("dwelling-place").

Hytbold was a prosperous village before it was raided and razed by Orcs invading from East Wall.

Drawing on Anglo-Saxon influence, Rohirric soldiers tend to prefer leather and chainmail armor over heavier plate.

Rohirrim men begin their training to become riders as early as twelve years of age.

The mark of a true hero is one who rises to the challenges before them. Middle-earth's heroes must find new strength, learn new skills and improve others, if they are to stand with Rohan against the combined might of Mordor and Isengard.

A wise adventurer knows that the best equipment isn't always taken from a fallen enemy or discovered in a chest. Sometimes, one must carve, sew, or forge the gear they need to see the job done.

Light
Inspired by the skilled weavers of Rohan, this armor is specifically designed to be functional while riding. Though lighter than other armors, it is reinforced with durable Riddermark leather for enhanced protection.
Medium
The wild beasts of the Mark are said to be as sturdy and unyielding as the Horse-lords themselves. It comes as no surprise, then, that the suits of brushed and glazed leather favored by the Rohirrim offer impressive defense and superior mobility.
Heavy
The heavy horse troops of Rohan are famed and feared throughout Middle-earth for their ferocity on the battlefield. Now, the great Rohirrim smiths have shared their craft with their new allies allowing them to forge heavy armors that are strong enough yet light enough to be worn for mounted combat.

Travel to the once-tranquil village of Hytbold, now a shell of its former self after months of raiding by Orcs and Evil Men. It falls to a hero to enlist aid from the surrounding strongholds of Cliving, Eoworth, Harick, and Snowbourn through daily quests to rebuild Hytbold into a symbol of strength and hope for the Rohirrim.

Watch Hytbold come to life as quests are completed with LOTRO's layering technology. Citizens will return, walls and buildings will be repaired, new crops will spring from the earth, and the banners of Rohan will fly overhead once more.

Returning Hytbold to prosperity would not only earn more allies for the battles ahead but the respect and generosity of its citizens. The crafters of the village were once renowned for their abilities and may have a few gifts left for a hero in these dark days.
