Rise of Isengard: Developer Diary: Monster Play Changes – Creep

Weaver

Lethal Kiss

Reason for Change: This skill does not suit their nature as harassers, the moment they are immobile they are in trouble.

  • Useable while moving

Venomous Haze

Reason for Change: The close range nature of this skill is makes the effect irrelevant to the Weaver themselves.

  • Increased Range 30m
  • Now requires target selection
  • Effect no longer stackable

Catch Prey

Reason for Change: In the world of stat cap removal and changing diminishing returns it was impossible to keep the effectiveness of this skill consistent.

  • Changed ratings to a flat 5% percent
  • Removed the induction
  • Usable while moving

Shadow Bite

Reason for Change: Spiders need a panic button to buy time when melee get onto them. Additionally, the percent chance on the skill made it unreliable.

  • Fear has now has a 100% chance to apply.

Feast

Current: On Defeat Event: Restore 800-900 Power (Fast Skill)

Reason for Change: Long cooldown for moderately impactful skill.

  • Reduce cooldown from 5m to 2m

Lie In Wait

Reason for Change: Induction lasts about 7 seconds longer than the animation.

  • Reduce induction from 10s to 2.5s
  • Added a -10% Induction buff to the Ambush effect

Necrosis

Current: 2m Shadow and Resist debuff on a 2min cooldown

Reason for Change: Long duration/cooldown skill that can have its effect cured reduces the value of this skill. Additionally, Shadow Defence synergizes with other Creeps, but serves little purpose for the Weaver.

  • Reduce cooldown & debuff duration (30s/30s)
  • Changed specific resist debuff to the Unified Resistance Rating
  • Removed the induction

Trait: Strong Brood

Current: Enhances the base hatchling to a more melee/tank pet Reason for Change: With the addition of a ranged pet option, the Strong Brood needs some additional value to make it competitive. The master buff adds an additional level of synergy and interest in each pet.

  • Trait grants the Weaver the “Strong Brood” buff
    • +616 Physical Mitigation
  • On Death – the hatchling unloads its poisons in an AoE poison cloud.
    • Hotspot that does light morale/ power damage over time.
      • 150-300 Morale/Power ever second for 10s
  • +20% Mitigations

Trait: Scytode Brood (NEW)

  • Replaces the “Hatchling” skill with the “Scytode Brood Hatchling”
    • This changes the base hatchling into a ranged pet with lower health but a decent power pool.
      • Pet gains the following stats:
        • 10% Morale
        • 20% Power
        • 5% Attack Speed
        • 15% Outgoing Damage
        • 5% Crit Chance
        • 5% Evade Chance
    • The pet traits are mutually exclusive.
    • All auto attacks are changed to Ranged Poison attacks (20m)

  • The Scytode Hatchling has the following skills:
    • Poisonous Silk (20m)
      • Applies a -10% Movement Speed debuff
      • After 10s applies a 30s Root
      • Both effects can be cured
    • Contact Poison (20m)
      • Stacking dot
        • 1 Stack – 75-108 Poison Damage every 2s for 20s
        • 2 Stacks – 94-134 Poison Damage every 2s for 20s
        • 3 Stacks – 118-168 Poison Damage every 2s for 20s
      • Consumes Necrosis debuff to apply max stacks.
    • Devour

  • Trait grants the Weaver “Scytode Brood” buff
    • +616 Tactical Mitigation

  • Trait available at Rank 7.
