Epic Tales and Forbidding Lands Fellowship quests often take place in dramatic locales packed with enemies too numerous and fearsome to face on your own. Even seemingly simple expeditions to slay Orcs or gather treasures should not be undertaken without friendly swords on your side—not when you’re treading the haunted passageways of the Great Barrow or the fire-blasted woodlands of Dol Dinen. Missions in places like the smashed city of Fornost and the bloodstained swamp of Agamaur are fellowship quests if only because they are home to Elite monsters—or worse. Is it any surprise that you’d need backup to penetrate the strongholds of Angmar? Some quest-chains culminate in dramatic instances that transform otherwise soloable locations into climactic scenes.
Many of the grandest quest chains involve at least one adventure that’s too perilous to take on alone. Some of these involve iconic characters like Gimli, too. Many chapters in the epic quest books are built to challenge full fellowships. These legendary tales cast your character alongside familiar faces like Aragorn and Legolas, with whom you undertake carefully crafted quests and become involved in dramatic events that wouldn’t be possible outside of such instances. These stories evoke the camaraderie and adventure of The Lord of the Rings, but with your own fellowship at the heart of the tale. |
