With all of the races and events taking place throughout Middle-earth, we need a few good photographers to capture the action for us! Whether its posing with your best hat, or snapping a photo of a thrilling neck-and-neck race, we want you to enter your screenshots into the Galloping Gala Screenshot Contest!

Each user can enter a single one of the four categories (listed below) twice. All screenshots we receive are automatically eligible for the Best In Show Awards. If a screenshot you submit wins any category, you’ll win 500 Turbine Points and a unique title for our forums! 

Screenshot Categories

• The Head of the Herd: Put on your best fancy hat and match it with your outfit! We want to see what you’re wearing to the races! The winner of this category will receive the title of “Gala Milliner 2012” on the LOTRO Forums.
• The Best of Breeds: Groom your mount and get ready to snap a lively shot! We want to see you and your mount in a beautiful pose somewhere in Middle-earth! The winner of this category will receive the title of “Gala Stylist 2012” on the LOTRO Forums.
• The Party Photographer: Every social gathering needs a good party photographer. Snap a shot of one of our Galloping Gala player-run parties, or take a photo of you and your kinship enjoying the festivities! The winner of this category will receive the title of “Gala Party Photographer 2012” on the LOTRO Forums.
• The Race Photographer: Action shots look great, but they’re sometimes hard to take. We’re looking for the bravest of the brave photographers to visit our many horse races and competitions and snap an action shot!  The winner of this category will receive the title “Gala Race Photographer 2012” on the LOTRO Forums.

And, much like Fashion Week, the Galloping Gala will feature one extra “meta” category that all screenshots will be automatically entered in, regardless of the category they chose.

• Best in Show: The finalists in this category will be determined by the Turbine Community Team, but the winner will be chosen by Bill & Chris from LOTRO Reporter, Kiralynn from Landroval’s Windy Acres Ranch, Sparkleigh from the Landroval Times, and Harperella from Landroval’s Lonely Mountain Band! The winner of this category will receive the title of “Galloping Gala Best in Show 2012” on the LOTRO Forums. 

Screenshots must be original and unedited (cropping is allowed) and should have a resolution of at least 1024x768.

Here are some tips for taking screenshots:

• The number pad or right mouse button can be used to adjust the camera angle
• You can zoom in to a first-person view with the mouse-wheel
• CTRL-P/Print Screen takes your screenshot
• Screenshots are stored in My Documents/The Lord of the Rings Online
• F12 will remove the UI, and N will remove floaty names
